What are the benefits of becoming a member?
AFCEA is the premier association for information systems professionals. Work with the top people in your career field! Here are just a few member benefits:
Scholarships. In addition to National scholarships the Tidewater Chapter awarded over $20,000 in local scholarships!
Networking. Each new member strengthens the AFCEA forum and enhances your professional networking opportunities.
Monthly Luncheons. Chapter luncheon meetings are usually scheduled for the third Thursday of the month. They feature technical experts and government, military, and industry leaders. The luncheons are normally held at the Langley Officers Club. It's a great time to learn about the latest technology and meet with fellow members.
Sponsor an Airman Program. In 1994 the Tidewater Chapter offered to "buy lunch" for some local Airman as a way to introduce them to AFCEA. It was so successful we formalized the Sponsor an Airman program and have been providing Airman free lunches ever since. If you know an Airman or a group of Airmen who might be interested in attending a luncheon or you would like to sponsor an Airman, let your representative know when you RSVP for a particular luncheon.
Annual Tidewater Symposium. The Tidewater AFCEA Chapter sponsors technological symposia and conference every spring. Last year, over 50 vendors setup booths and gave demonstrations. More information will be posted in the near future.
SIGNAL Magazine. You will receive a monthly addition of Signal Magazine, AFCEA's award-winning professional journal. The technical articles and regular monthly features will keep you current on the latest news in our profession.
Monthly Newsletter. Provides a monthly update on the Tidewater plans and programs described in this package including monthly luncheons and guest speakers, chapter goals and our progress toward achieving them, awards, scholarships, symposium information, corporate affairs, and more.
Awards. There are numerous local and National Awards given in recognition to active members. Last year our Chapter took 4 national awards!
Job Bank USA. AFCEA members and their families are eligible to enroll in the Job Bank USA Career Advancement Service. Job Bank USA is the nation's premier employment database company. Enrollment in the database is a great way to find a new job, especially for military and government professionals transitioning to the private sector!
