Scholarships

 

Continuing Education. The Tidewater Chapter is committed to continuing education in the technical fields. The Chapter organizes venues where presentations are given on topics of interest. The Chapter also supports its members through tuition assistance and scholarship program

Tuition Assistance Program The Tidewater Chapter of AFCEA is offering tuition assistance to enlisted military and federal service employee members meeting the following requirements:

  1. Must be a member of AFCEA
  2. Must be an active duty enlisted member or a federal service employee assigned to the Tidewater area
    Pursuing a declared undergraduate degree in the field of: communications, electronics, data processing, computer science, electronic warfare, intelligence or avionics disciplines
  3. Attempting to improve skill level or job knowledge within C4T: Air Force Specialty Code, Army Military Occupational Specialty, Navy Enlisted Classification Code, or Civilian Job Series

Scholarship Program The AFCEA Tidewater Chapter awards annual scholarships to students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree programs in appropriate technical disciplines. The Tidewater Chapter awards scholarships to students who demonstrate academic excellence, participation in extracurricular activities, and financial need. AFCEA Scholarship applications are available at this web site; the Langley AFB, Fort Monroe, and Fort Eustis Education Offices; the AFCEA Chapter meetings; local High School Guidance Counselors; University Offices of the Registrar; University Counselors and Department Heads; and ROTC Commandants. An eligibility criterion includes:

  1. Should be entering or participating in an undergraduate or graduate degree programs in appropriate technical disciplines such as Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, or Physics. Distance-learning programs are NOT eligible.
  2. Candidates need not be members of AFCEA
  3. General Scholarship Program

May be U.S. government civil service employees; active military personnel (both officer and enlisted); family members of U.S. civil service employees and military personnel; military veterans; and high school seniors and undergraduate students(full and part-time) living in the Tidewater area.

  1. ROTC Scholarship Program

A U.S. citizen enrolled in ROTC, have good moral character, demonstrates academic excellence, and potential to serve as an officer in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Must be at least first-year college student, enrolled full-time at the time of application.

Must be nominated by Professors of Military Science, Naval Science, or Aerospace Studies.

Send completed, signed application along with an official transcript, a letter authenticating class standing, one reference letter, and a 1-page essay titled How the AFCEA Scholarship Can Benefit My Education to:

I sent my scholarship application on xx XXX 2010 to Mr. Frank Richardson to be considered for a Tidewater AFCEA scholarship.

NOTE: Applications must be post marked by April 24, 2010
