The Joint Forces Staff College (JFSC) is sponsoring its first annual Education Technology Symposium with the theme Superiority Through Technology on 04 August 2010. The symposium will run be 0900 - 1600 in Marianas Hall on the JFSC campus in Norfolk, Virginia. JFSC is part of the National Defense University with the mission of educating national security professionals to plan and execute joint, multinational, and interagency operations to instill a primary commitment to joint, multinational, and interagency teamwork, attitudes, and perspectives. The college is located adjacent to the world’s largest naval facility; in addition, there are a number of Joint and Service commands situated in close proximity: U. S. Joint Forces Command, the Army’s Training and Doctrine Command, Langley Air Force Base-Fort Eustis, and Naval Network Warfare Command. JFSC’s Educational Technology Division (ETD) has the lead for assessing the educational requirements of the college and mapping a strategy to design, test, and implement Information Technology (IT) solutions to achieve the best educational outcome. To reach this goal, ETD must remain current with emerging IT trends and innovations with a focus on their educational application. The Superiority Through Technology Symposium is intended to support the focus on IT to achieve learning. Invited attendees include local higher education institutions and Joint and Service commands.
